The School of Bharatanatyam At Newport in Jersey City, lessons are imparted on week days and week ends at convenient times to kids, parents and working professionals. Students enjoy the River view, lawn, rose garden and, the cityscape across the river -- through large windows -- while soaking in this ancient art, in a mirrored, wooden-floor studio! This ambiance is chosen and, a library like environment is created by the artistic director Calai, to suitably enhance the learning experience of her students, who are starting their rewarding artistic journey here.
Other locations taught at earlier: Short Hills, Millburn, Gillette, Bridgewater, Old Bridge and Journal Square. Dance classes are held online currently. And it has been highly effective and enjoyable! |
PerformanceArtistic Director Calai Chandra performs Bharatanatyam regularly at various venues in New Jersey and New York through out the year. She is on many occasions accompanied by her budding student artists. They are widely appreciated for the pure classical tradition they practice.
Bharatanatyam dance recitals are normally accompanied by live orchestra of classical Carnatic music. And at times it is performed to specially composed vibrant dance music that is recorded too. |
